KIRKLAND LAKE – A sense of warmth and community filled Civic Park on Oct. 24 as youth gathered for the Planet Youth community bonfire, held in partnership with the Town of Kirkland Lake.

From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., more than 30 local kids and teenagers came together to enjoy an evening of outdoor fun. The event featured lawn games, good food, and a lively campfire atmosphere that encouraged connection on a cool autumn night.

“This event was all about bringing youth together in a safe, positive space,” said Kim Klockars, Director of Community Services. “We’re thrilled to see so many young people connecting face-to-face, having fun, and enjoying our recreational facilities.”

Planet Youth Timiskaming North is a community-based initiative aimed at supporting youth well-being and preventing substance use by strengthening local connections and providing healthy, meaningful activities.

The bonfire was one of several community engagement events planned for the fall season.
