What: Planet Youth is a proven approach that empowers communities to work together to address the root causes of early substance use. The aim is to create a supportive environment for all children and youth, with a focus on strengthening protective factors such as positive relationships with family and friends, participation in extracurricular activities, and school engagement.
How: Every two years, Planet Youth Timiskaming surveys high school students to better understand youth wellbeing and track trends over time. Local Action Teams use the findings to set priorities and take action to support youth wellbeing and reduce substance use.
